About Complaints to TIDC

The Texas Indigent Defense Commission’s authority to inquire into complaints is governed by Section 79.037, Texas Government Code. The purpose of any inquiry is to assist counties in improving their indigent defense systems and to promote compliance with the Fair Defense Act.

TIDC does not accept complaints by telephone, fax, or email. To file a complaint, you may fill out the following online complaint form, or you may request a complaint form by calling (512) 936-6994 or toll-free at (866) 499-0656.

If your complaint involves an allegation of judicial misconduct, you may also file a complaint with the State Commission on Judicial Conduct. More information at: http://www.scjc.texas.gov/complaint-faq/.

If your complaint involves an allegation of professional misconduct by an attorney, you may also file a complaint with the Client-Attorney Assistance Program or a grievance with the State Bar of Texas.
